The S&P 500 fell nine points to 1,994.

The Nasdaq fell 14 points to 4,783.

The LABJ Stock Index fell one point to 226.

Gainers and Losers

Visual prosthetic-maker Second Sight Medical Products Inc. was Wednesday’s biggest local gainer among stocks trading above $1. Shares rose 13 percent on the day, closing at $6.70.

Wednesday’s biggest loser was Pasadena prepaid debit card firm Green Dot Corp.

Shares fell 8 percent on the day, closing at $16.95.
