Alternative energy developer Rentech Inc. was Wednesday’s biggest local gainer among stocks trading above $1. Shares of the company rose 16 percent to close at $3.11.

Wednesday’s biggest loser, among stocks trading above $1, was digital media firm Point.360. Shares of the company fell 8 percent to close at $1.10.
