Lender Finances Relativity

Content Partners Capital in Westwood provides strategic growth financing to Relativity Media.

Content Partners Capital – the credit-focused lending division of Westwood entertainment investment company Content Partners LLC – recently provided strategic growth financing to Beverly Hills-based Relativity Media.

CPC first launched in late August, coinciding with the announcement that it was providing debt financing to Media Capital Technologies for its film slate transaction with Lionsgate.

The Relativity investment, which closed last week, serves as CPC’s first official deal since first making waves last year.

While CPC did not disclose financial details, Relativity’s Chief Executive Lex Miron said the media company plans to put $100 million into intellectual property film acquisitions in the next three to five years, as well as release 14 new films by 2027.

Help grow revenue

Through this financing, Miron said that CPC will help Relativity grow its revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) “significantly in the near team.”

CPC was created to provide debt-oriented, long-term investments to middle- and lower-middle market companies with IP-heavy business models in the entertainment industry, Alphonse Lordo, partner at CPC, previously told the Business Journal.

Lordo said Relativity fits in well with this model.

“Relativity Media represents a rare combination of proven legacy, revitalized leadership and a forward-looking strategy that aligns with where the film and television market is headed,” Lordo said in a statement. “Our investment supports their ambition to scale high-quality content while reinforcing CPC’s commitment to fueling the next generation of media businesses through tailored, strategic capital.”

Relativity plans to focus on “high quality, wide-audience independent film and television,” according to a release.
