The Los Angeles Business Journal’s index of largest local public companies closed down for the week as the larger markets were hit with late Friday declines.
The weighted LABJ Stock Index fell 3 percent to 161.80 for the trading week ended May 31. Gainers outpaced decliners 83 to 76.
The biggest gainer was Capstone Turbine Co., jumping 22 percent to $1.16. The Chatsworth microturbine company announced two orders.
Among the week’s biggest decliners was Westlake Village fruit and vegetable producer Dole Food Co. Inc., which fell 15 percent to $9.47 after the company suspended a large share repurchase.
Sport Chalet Inc. fell 11 percent to $1.71 after the La Canada-Flintridge retailer reported a fourth quarter loss.
