El Segundo’s Century Park Capital Partners LLC continues to expand its holdings in the fire and emergency equipment business, acquiring manufacturer Fire Research Corp. through a portfolio company.

Fire Research Corp. on New York’s Long Island makes lights, instruments and safety equipment used on fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. It will become part of a previous Century Park acquisition, ROM Corp. of Belton, Mo.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Fire Research Corp. is one of a handful of similar businesses acquired by ROM since that company was purchased by Century Park, a private equity firm, in 2007. Other acquisitions include ladder and truck-ramp maker Bustin Industrial Products.

Executives say the acquisition should lead to increased sales of Fire Research Corp. products and will make ROM the nation’s biggest supplier of several types of equipment including emergency scene lighting.
