Los Angeles engineering and construction firm Aecom has purchased Hunt Construction Group for an undisclosed sum in a deal announced on Tuesday.
Aecom previously acquired San Francisco’s URS Corp. in a $6 billion deal that was announced earlier this month.
Hunt Construction Group is headquartered in Indianapolis and has about 700 employees in nine U.S. offices and revenue exceeding $1.2 billion last year.
Daniel P. McQuade, Aecom’s chief executive for construction services, said Hunt Construction Group has demonstrated expertise in sports, aviation and health care projects.
Hunt projects include Marlins Park in Miami, Maynard H. Jackson Jr. Terminal at Atlanta Hartsfield Airport and San Antonio Military Medical Center.
Aecom and Hunt Construction Group worked together on Barclays Center, an arena in Brooklyn, N.Y.; and the Proton Therapy Clinc at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.
“The addition of Hunt’s people and resources immediately makes Aecom one of the largest U.S. builders,” Michael S. Burke, Aecom chief executive, said in a statement. “This important expansion of our build expertise reflects the continued advancement of our strategy to create an integrated delivery platform with superior capabilities to design, build, finance and operate infrastructure assets globally.”
Aecom’s acquisition of URS is expected to close in October. Following the completion of its purchases of URS and Hunt Construction Group, Aecom will have more than 95,000 employees working in 150 countries. The combined company would have had 2013 revenue of more than $20 billion.
Shares of Aecom closed slightly down Tuesday at $34.72 on the NYSE.
