Alfred Osborne, associate senior dean of external affairs and a professor at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, has been tapped as the school’s interim dean starting July 1, the school announced on May 22.

Osborne will take over from current Dean Judy Olian, who departs at the end of June to become president of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. UCLA is still conducting a national search for a permanent dean.

Osborne joined UCLA as an assistant professor of business economics in 1972.

He holds a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, a master’s in economics, an M.B.A. in finance and a doctorate in business economics, all from Stanford University, the school said.

“Chancellor Block and I appreciate Al’s willingness to serve as interim dean, and have every confidence in his ability to provide strong leadership and continuity for the school,” Scott Waugh, UCLA executive vice chancellor and provost said in a statement.

The Anderson School of Management’s MBA program ranked third on the Business Journal’s annual list of MBA graduates based on graduates, behind the USC Marshall School and the Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Management.
