For decades, Jack Kyser has been the go-to guy for cities, counties and reporters as the expert who can analyze trends, make predictions and offer suggestions on the economy.
But Kyser, who has been the chief economist at the Economic Development Corp. since 1991, says it is time to retire. Kyser, 76, said he will be leaving his post at the end of June, but he expects to remain busy as a consultant and will continue to offer his opinions.
Kyser said he still has high hopes for the region because of its natural resources and the ability it has shown over the years to reinvent itself and rebound.
