Dale Nelson spent over 25 years as in-house intellectual property counsel at Warner Bros. before joining Donaldson Callif Perez to champion the free speech rights of artists and independent filmmakers. Specializing in issues related to copyrights, trademarks, personal rights, and clearance, she brings a blend of litigation and in-house counsel experience to her practice, helping filmmakers, authors, and artists express their art and stories in a truthful, powerful way.
Nelson has a broad and deep understanding of copyright law and loves the challenges her clients bring with their unusual projects which, at first glance, may seem to require consents and permissions but, in reality, do not. Many of Nelson’s clients’ projects have premiered at prestigious film festivals including Sundance, Toronto International Film Festival, and SXSW.
