Britain’s new prime minister, Rishi Sunak, is no stranger to Los Angeles. He and his wife, Akshata Murty, bought a luxury condo in the Waverly complex on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica directly from the developer in 2014 and reportedly stayed there over Easter weekend in April. According to the Associated Press, the flat is valued at more than $7 million and “boasts sweeping views of the world-famous Santa Monica pier and the Pacific Ocean beyond.” The two met at Stanford University, married in a lavish ceremony in India (she is the daughter of the billionaire founder of Infosys, an Indian tech giant) and planned to live in Santa Monica. But Sunak, now 42, returned to England to pursue his career in politics, and he was elected to Parliament in 2015. Murty, according to the Washington Post, owns a start-up incubator and has shares in a half dozen or so other companies. The couple have at least three homes in Britain and are often described as wealthier than Britain’s royals with a net worth of $877 million. But they would not have come near appearing on the Business Journal’s list of 50 Wealthiest Angelenos, which came out last month. In fact, they would have needed twice as much money to come in last on that list.

Does it seem to you that there are a lot of coworking spaces in Los Angeles? Turns out there are. The Los Angeles area has the second-most coworking spaces at 588, which is close behind the No. 1 city, New York, with 594. After that, there’s a gap before getting to the No. 3 city, Washington, which has only 295. California has a whopping 1,188 coworking spaces – nearly double that of runner-up Texas. This is all according to a poll out last week from CoworkingCafe, a coworking space search website.
