No Clear Runway

BizFed – officially the Los Angeles County Business Federation – recently tripled down on its support of Phillip Washington’s nomination to head the Federal Aviation Administration, which has been leaderless since March. BizFed’s leaders worked with Washington when he led Metro – the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority – for six years until 2021, and Tracy Hernandez, BizFed’s chief executive, called Washington “the master collaborator and convener the FAA needs right now” – especially after this month’s FAA computer blowup that delayed 11,000 flights and caused heartburn nationwide. was nominated in July. The snag: He was named in a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department search warrant in September in an investigation of political corruption. But Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer recently vowed to push Washington’s nomination, apparently satisfied with any issues.

Henderson

City National Bank made several important personnel announcements late last week. Long Beach native David Cameron was promoted to executive vice president of Personal and Business Banking, one of the bank’s biggest teams with 700 people in California andseveral additional states. He’ll be responsible for overseeing the bank’s support of individuals, organizations, and small to midsize businesses. He replaces Scott Witter, who is retiring.
