At a time when the ability of media organizations to express themselves freely and maintain commitments to diversity face unprecedented threats, Adam Levin’s work has never been more valuable. Twenty-five years ago, in a case against Friends writers, Levin clarified the principle that writing-room comments were protected expression – and that the First Amendment doesn’t stop at the studio gate. The litigation made Levin the preferred counsel for industry defendants in employment lawsuits, and today he is applying the defense for Bravo in several high-profile cases. Levin prevailed for Warner Bros. in a “reverse discrimination” case brought by a former camera operator in a case that could have impacted the industry’s attempts to diversify. He also continues to represent several major studios in ongoing labor and employment litigation matters.
