CARDIOLOGY AND CARDIOVASCULAR SERVICES

AVMC’s Institute for Heart & Vascular Care is at the forefront of diagnosing and treating complex heart-related conditions. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by experienced cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurses, the center provides comprehensive services that include diagnosis, treatment, and management for artery disease, heart disease, heart failure, valve replacement, procedures for atrial fibrillation, and more. THROMBECTOMY CAPABLE CENTER

AVMC received certification from DNV as a Primary Plus Stroke Center, affirming the hospital’s readiness to handle a full range of stroke-related medical problems. As a Thrombectomy Capable Center, AVMC performs Mechanical Thrombectomy (clot retrieval), a procedure for patients experiencing an ischemic stroke caused by a blockage in a large vessel in the brain.

WOMEN’S HEALTH SERVICES

AVMC takes pride in its specialized Women’s Health Services that encompass comprehensive care for women of all ages. From routine gynecological check-ups, family planning, prenatal care, and childbirth support that includes a Level IIIB Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). AVMC’s state-of-the-art maternity department ensures a safe and comfortable environment for new mothers and their newborns.

NEUROLOGY AND NEUROSURGERY

PEDIATRICS

As the region’s only Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP), signifies it’s ready to treat infants, children, and adolescents with serious illnesses or injuries at any time.

NEW PROGRAMS

It is an exciting and significant time in the hospital’s 68-year history, Antelope Valley Medical Center is building a solid foundation to expand its impact, increase its medical services, and grow its team. A few of the new programs include:

  • Kidney & Pancreas Transplant program: AVMC will soon offer a kidney & pancreas transplant program to the Antelope Valley area, bringing the highest level of nephrology care designed for its population. The combined kidney and pancreas transplant surgery is designed for patients who are on dialysis, but who are also diabetic and on insulin.
  • Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation Hospital: The plan is to build and operate a two-story hospital in Lancaster, including 96 behavioral health beds and 25 acute inpatient rehabilitation beds. The facility will provide a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, into an acute rehabilitation unit that will help adults who have experienced a loss of function or disability due to stroke, neurological disorders, orthopedic surgery, and other conditions.
