During his college career, Damon Frier planned to become a clinical psychologist until a single accounting course changed his path. He became fascinated by accounting as a balanced system that draws upon business, math, law and even sales. He was especially inspired by the opportunity to use his accounting knowledge to understand diverse industries and help companies strengthen their financial health. For the last 30 years, Frier has been creating new possibilities for privately held middle-market companies across various industries. He has spent the past 20 years in a variety of key leadership roles at Grant Thornton Advisors, including leading the firm’s Los Angeles tax services practice, the West Region privately held business tax services practice, and chairing the Southern California private equity initiative.
