Since joining the leadership team of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in 2015, the organization has benefited immeasurably from Lara Khouri’s dynamic leadership, visionary communication style, and unwavering approach to holistic problem-solving. She is known for bringing groups of experts together to address problems and opportunities and combines her compassion and commitment to support and advance the fulfillment of CHLA’s mission – to create hope and build healthier futures.
As executive vice president and chief operating officer of CHLA, Khouri is responsible for overseeing operational performance across the CHLA enterprise. Khouri also oversees strategy and transformation functions, including CHLA’s Ambulatory Operations; Center for Global Health; Government and Community Relations; Health System Development and Integration; Innovation; Marketing and Communications; Research Operations; Service Lines, and Strategic Planning departments. Additionally, she championed physician alignment for the enterprise in close partnership with the academic department chairs and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group. She also oversees hospital-based clinical services provided by the departments of Anesthesiology, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Radiology, and Respiratory Therapy, as well as the enterprise support provided by the Department of Information Services.
Khouri’s skills and leadership have come together repeatedly to lead and direct CHLA into successive phases of growth and expansion. She works alongside clinical and administrative leaders to develop and improve processes, procedures, and systems while addressing patient care needs, patient and team member experience, and CHLA’s impact on the broader community. Under Khouri’s leadership, CHLA has become the market leader in pediatric care in Los Angeles County.
