Radio station operator Salem Communications on Thursday said it acquired HotAir.com, a popular blog showcasing the news, analysis and commentary of conservative commentators such as Ed Morrissey and Michelle Malkin, the blog site’s founder.
The Camarillo media company, which known for its Christian music and conservative talk radio formats, said the online site will augment its own Internet offerings.
“It’s a perfect fit for us, since we can leverage talk radio, print and other online assets to aggressively grow the site, while offering political organizations and advertisers an even more effective way to reach and engage the conservative audience,” said Tom Perrault, senior vice president of the Salem Web Network division.
Shares closed up 7 cents, or 1.4 percent, to $4.99 on the Nasdaq.
