Ellen Cervantes Is the Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Child Care Resource Center, a non-profit providing strengthening family services in northern Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County. She has extensive experience in non-profit management and program development. She oversees the direct service work of the Child Care Resource Center which includes its three core businesses: Head Start, Child Care Financial Assistance, and Resource & Referral/Child Development. She also is responsible for identifying and overseeing projects that impact the internal cross-divisional systems. In her nineteen years with CCRC Ellen has written grants introducing new programs to meet the needs of the families and children within the CCRC service area. She wrote the initial School Readiness Initiative which has evolved into home visiting services with over 300 clients, exploring child care options for families who are experiencing homelessness, and working to develop Apprenticeship programs for family child care providers, home visitors, and high school students. Her frequently asked question is “what else can we do for children and families?”
Additionally, Ellen is currently serving as Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s representative to the Los Angeles County Officer for the Advancement of Early Care and Education’s Policy Round Table, and the Home Visiting Stakeholders group.
Ellen earned a Master's in Social Work from UC Berkeley to help make the world a better place. She is active in her community, lends her time as a volunteer and serves on the board of her synagogue.
