Jeffrey S. Horton Thomas
Partner
Akerman LLP
From Fortune 500 corporations to mid-market employers, Jeffrey Horton Thomas focuses his practice on representing employers and management in all aspects of California and federal employment law before courts and administrative agencies. He regularly defends employers on issues involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, disability accommodation, wage and hour, and PAGA lawsuits and administrative actions. His clients span various sectors including hospitality, technology, retail, professional services, manufacturing, and apparel.
Recently, Thomas has been successful representing a “big box” retailer, Haliburton International Foods, Disruptive Visions, a top Hollywood producer, Dollar Tree and the largest LGBTQ publishing house. In one recent case, Thomas led a litigation team defending his longtime client, Hugo’s Restaurant Group. The original complaint pled a putative class action for wage and hour claims and unfair competition. Thomas successfully downgraded the lawsuit from a putative class action to a PAGA action.
