Spotlight on Executive Education: USC’s Master of Studies in Law: Legal Skills and Knowledge for Business Professionals

In any organization, leadership isn’t just important, it’s essential. And in today’s workplace, effective leaders offer a well-rounded skillset — able to adapt to new challenges and set the strategies for success.

USC’s Gould School of Law, ranked among the top 20 law schools nationwide, is leading the way to help business professionals meet the ever-evolving demands they face and build a strong foundation for their company’s future. Through the innovative Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree, practitioners and leaders across industries and sectors can enhance their business expertise with legal education.

From contracts and compliance to strategy and negotiation, the MSL program offers a uniquely focused curriculum that gives students a solid understanding of fundamental and complex legal concepts, which they apply to their work and ultimately improve their organizations. In addition, students have the opportunity to tailor their educational experience, studying the law on a wider scale or specializing in an industry-specific area that is relevant to their career and individual goals.

Learn more about USC’s MSL program, and how it could benefit your career and your company.

How the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree can benefit you

Offered through USC’s Gould School of Law, the MSL degree is specially designed for non-lawyer professionals interested in understanding legal issues related to their fields.

Students have the convenience of completing the degree 100% online, and the flexibility to study part-time — making the MSL an ideal format to balance with busy work schedules. No LSAT or GRE test is required; no prior law degree is required either. In addition, generous scholarships are available and considered for all applicants.

The MSL degree enables graduates to redefine their role with a more thorough understanding of the law.

The benefits don’t end inside the classroom. Graduates of the MSL program gain access to the global Trojan Family network, which includes connections to more than 11,000 USC Gould alumni.

Industry-specific tracks designed for your goals and interests

MSL students can customize their educational experience to fit their individual goals, by pursuing certificates aligned with their field. These certificate programs – which can be completed at no additional cost, as a part of the MSL education – help students develop valuable legal skills to support their organizations and ultimately improve employee and leadership productivity, as well as bottom-line contributions. Certificates may be earned in as few as two part-time, online semesters.

Industry-specific certificate programs include:

•Business Law

•Compliance

•Entertainment Law and Industry

•Financial Compliance

•Health Care Compliance

•Human Resources Law and Compliance

•Privacy Law and Cybersecurity
