Abell Auction Co., Los Angeles’ original and premier auction house, announces the appointment of two strategic hires to support expanding markets and services in Southern California.
John Simon Taylor, Estates Director, brings nearly 50 years of experience in retail antiques and the auction business. Prior to joining Abell, he held executive positions in product development, visual merchandising and store planning with R. H. Macy’s Corporation in New York and California. He also served for 10 years as Specialist for Post War and 20th Century Furniture and Decorative Arts at John Moran Auctioneers.
“We are thrilled to have John onboard,” said Abell Auction Co. President Don Schireson. “While he specializes in 20th century design, he is a trained generalist in all property categories and will hold consignment responsibilities for the northern Los Angeles area.”
Jo Ellen Cole, Director of Fine Jewelry, has been involved in the jewelry industry since 1978, and has held leadership positions at highly respected retail and wholesale jewelry venues, Guild Laboratories, Inc., Heritage Auctions and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). She earned a Graduate Gemologist Diploma at the GIA and passed the prestigious Gemological Association of Great Britain’s F.G.A. examinations. She also offers independent gem and jewelry appraisals consultation in Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
