Ramonas Food Group LLC (“RFG”) & Ramonas Restaurant Group LLC(“RRG”) is a multi-generational family business that originated in 1954 by Romana and Alejandro Banuelos. The two entities were originally structured under Ramona’s Mexican Food Products, Inc. until early 2017, when the company was acquired by current owners Robert Banuelos (51%), the grandson of the founder, and Edward Medina (49%), cousin to Robert.
Ramonas first gained notoriety in the Los Angeles area in the 1940s for its tortillas.
In 1947, Romana Acosta Banuelos opened a storefront in Echo Park under the easierto pronounce name “Ramonas.” With help from investors, she was able to grow Ramonas into a multi-million dollar family owned business and eventually bought out her partners. Her success in the Mexican food products business would lead her to a pioneering role in the banking business.
