Morgan Chu, a partner with Irell & Manella and chair of the firm’s Litigation group, has secured many of the world’s largest – and in some cases precedent-setting – verdicts, judgments and settlements. Chu has obtained more than $9 billion in actual payments for clients. Defense representations have comprised an equal share of his career, and he has scored a series of wins that have been named top defense verdicts of the year.
Chu recently co-led an Irell team that secured a $2.3 billion final judgment for VLSI Technology LLC in a suit against Intel Corp. involving two patents on technology used in Intel’s microprocessors. He is co-leading teams representing VLSI in several additional high-stakes infringement cases against Intel involving microprocessor technology. Also, Chu argued before and convinced the U.S. Supreme Court to rule 9-0 in favor of his client NantKwest, which is developing cancer treatments using natural killer cells.
