When Richard Jones graduated from Boston University he had a Russian literature degree and banking was the last thing on his mind. However, after a stint traveling with very little financial resources he decided to go to graduate school. In 1980, after obtaining a master’s degree in International Finance from Columbia University he found his calling in a career that combined building personal relationships, helping simplify people’s lives and investing. So, for the past 41 years Jones has been providing highly tailored investment advisory and private banking services to high net worth individuals, foundations and endowments. After tenures at JP Morgan and Bank of America, Jones joined forces with Reza Zafari, Jerry Klein and Tom Tournat and joined Merrill Lynch. As one of the founding members of the Jones Zafari Group, he has built one of the largest private wealth management teams in the US overseeing over $22 billion in assets.Â
