Sean Andrade, founder and managing partner of Andrade Gonzalez, authored the amicus brief in Texas v. United States after the state of Texas sued the United States following then President Barack Obama’s executive action to protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or “Dreamers” program. Andrade and his team were given only a few days to author the brief that gave a voice to 33 mayors of major national cities (L.A., N.Y.C., Chicago, Philadelphia, Seattle, Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, St. Louis and many others) supporting the program that would offer work permits and a path to legalization for certain qualifying undocumented immigrants. Earlier this month, SCOTUS ruled 5-4 to block the Trump administration’s attempt to rescind. Andrade is also known for his ongoing representation of the largest school district in the nation, Los Angeles Unified.
