THE LATEST: As partner and chairman of Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell's corporate department, Capps represents some of the firm&s higher visibility corporate, insurance and banking clients. His areas of expertise include securities matters such as mergers and acquisitions, and representation of special committees, corporate governance for international nonprofits, international dispute resolution, real estate and building materials companies, corporate finance, franchising, litigation management and health care transactions. His experience includes serving substantial corporate clients as outside general counsel.
BACKGROUND: Capps has represented Fortune 500 and nonprofit companies in all aspects of international transactions as well as prominent families in Southern California in matters of business and personal and succession planning. He has also represented the building materials industry and has been involved with strategic litigation management for major disputes. Capps earned a BA from Whittier College in 1968 and a JD from UC Berkeley Law School in 1973.
