THE LATEST: In the first half of 2019, a real estate wing of Cohen’s private asset management firm sold several office buildings in Golden, Colo., to the state’s Land Board for $15.9 million. For the past year, the Karlin real estate arm has also been overseeing the renovation of the former GlaxoSmithKline research campus it acquired in North Carolina.

BACKGROUND: Cohen co-founded Karlin Real Estate in 2009. He has more than 25 years of principal investing experience in real estate, private equity, and public and private securities. Karlin Real Estate seeks purchasing and financing opportunities in commercial, hospitality, and multifamily properties in the United States. Since 2009, Karlin Real Estate has acquired and financed close to $2 billion in transactions. Karlin Real Estate is an affiliate of Karlin Asset Management, which manages more than $1.4 billion in capital.

WORTH NOTING: Cohen serves on boards and in leadership positions for multiple nonprofit organizations in public policy, medical research, animal welfare and education.
