THE LATEST: An MVE-designed project under development in Beverly Hills sold for $130 million in May. The mixed-use luxury property at 9200 Wilshire Blvd. will have 54 residences and nearly 7,000 square feet of retail space when it is completed in 2021.

BACKGROUND: McLarand founded architecture firm MVE in 1974. Among the firm’s notable designs in Southern California are the Water Garden in Santa Monica, the MTA Building downtown, Wilshire Courtyard in Miracle Mile and the Grace and Griffin towers downtown. A USC graduate, McLarand holds professional affiliations with the American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute, National Association of Home Builders, Building Industry Association, and Home Builders Council. He is a member of the USC Architectural Guild and a charter member of the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business Center for Real Estate.

WORTH NOTING: McLarand’s son, Matthew, was named MVE’s president and director of design in 2017.
