What kind of child do you get when your father is a rocket scientist and your mother is an artist? You get a technically brilliant filmmaker! Chris Edwards, CEO and co-founder of the largest visualization studio in the world, The Third Floor, garnered such a pedigree. Edwards worked at Walt Disney Animation for five years as a 3-D artist. In 2002, he was recommended to George Lucas to work at Skywalker Ranch — Hollywood’s most coveted gig.

Filled with inspiration from their work, Edwards and some colleagues started their new business venture in Los Angeles and named the company after their office on the third floor of Skywalker Ranch. Before Edwards and TTF, the concept of pre-vis (Pre-Visualization) was never openly acknowledged in Hollywood; it is through Edwards’ efforts of advocating the technology that it became industry standard.​
