Time Warner, Sprint Talking About Cellphone Deal

Time Warner Cable is reportedly in talks to offer cellphone service over Sprint Corp.’s network on a trial basis early in 2005.

The deal would make the unit of Time Warner Inc. the only major cable company to offer mobile phone service, along with its current television, high-speed Internet access and traditional phone service.

Time Warner Cable and Sprint confirmed they were in talks, but declined to discuss timing or other details.

The service is said to be limited to Kansas City, Mo., in the first quarter of 2005, but could expand.
