Robyn Crowther

Co-Managing Partner of LA Office

Steptoe & Johnson LLP

In September 2019, Robyn Crowther was asked to step in to first chair a jury trial in a personal injury case following an accident at LAX airport that had been pending for four years when the lead partner faced a medical emergency. Between then and January 6, 2020, Crowther prepared for a 15-day jury trial in which the plaintiffs asked for $25 million in damages. At trial, the jury awarded $2.7 million to the lead plaintiff, far below the $4.9 million 998 settlement demand the plaintiffs had made before trial.

Crowther also led the defense of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. in a FINRA arbitration arising out of Schwab’s Registered Investment Advisory business. The resulting award for the claimant was less than the amount of attorneys’ fees and costs that the claimant had spent pursuing the action, and a fraction of the amount that was demanded.

Recognizing Gilford’s extensive experience managing and coordinating massive cases such as the Toyota nationwide class action unintended acceleration multi district litigation, Honda retained her as lead counsel in 14 class actions pertaining to the investigation of ZF-TRW automobile airbags.
