THE LATEST: In the year since he took on the lead role for Apple Music, Schusser has rolled out a global publishing business to work with songwriters and made key acquisitions and hires to boost Apple’s recommendations capability for the No. 2 streaming service (50 million subscribers in 115 countries).
BACKGROUND: Schusser served as vice president of iTunes International in the company’s London office for 15 years before his 2018 promotion. In his previous role, Schusser managed Apple’s international content programs including the App Store, iTunes Movies and TV, iBooks, and Apple Podcasts. Prior to Apple, Schusser’s music career included stops at Vodafone Group, Napster Inc. and Bertelsmann.
WORTH NOTING: Schusser holds an MBA from the University of Birmingham and a PhD in media economics from the University of Cologne.
