Get Heal Inc., a Century City-based company that makes physician house calls at the touch of a mobile app, has named one-time Qualcomm Chairman Paul Jacobs and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to its board.
The four-year-old startup announced Jan. 17 it named Jacobs and Bush to its board of directors for their strong track records in technology innovation and public policy.
“Technology is the catalyst that eliminates stifling bureaucracy and enables timelier, more personal, more proactive care that lowers costs and improves outcomes,” said Dr. Renee Dua, co-founder and chief medical officer at the company known as Heal, in a statement.
Jacobs, now chairman of the board at Heal, is chief executive of Xcom Services, a La Jolla-based wireless technology company he launched last year.
The former chairman and chief executive of Qualcomm Inc. left the firm his father founded after a failed hostile takeover attempt by Broadcom Inc.
Bush, who led Florida from 1999 to 2007 where he launched a pilot program to privately manage Medicaid, has advised Fortune 500 companies on health care policy issues. He was a Republican candidate for president in 2016.
Get Heal, which arranges home doctor visits starting at $99 at the touch of a mobile phone app, has delivered more than 100,000 house calls paid for by all major PPO insurance plans in California, according to the company.
Heal announced this month a capitated primary care program with Aetna Inc. to serve chronic disease patients.
Since its March 2015 launch, it has raised more than $69 million in funding from such investors as Jacobs, Bush, Lionel Richie, Breyer Capital, IRA Capital and Trans-Pacific Technology Fund.
