Anschutz Entertainment Group Inc. will partner with a Thai developer and mall operator to build two arenas and accompanying entertainment districts in Bangkok, according to a Sept. 27 announcement.
Downtown-based AEG and Bangkok’s the Mall Group will together invest more than $300 million to build EM Live at the Emsphere and The Bangkok Arena at the Bangkok Mall.
An AEG spokeswoman declined to disclose how much the companies are individually spending on the project.
Both projects are scheduled for completion at the end of the 4th quarter of 2022.
The project is similar to other AEG entertainment districts throughout the world including LA Live in Los Angeles. AEG owns 38 arenas, according to its website.
“Southeast Asia is going through a transformation,” Adam Wilkes, president and chief executive officer of Southeast Asia said in a statement. “As incomes rise and spending power increases, consumers in the region are demanding more sophisticated entertainment experiences.”
