TheWaveVR raises $6 million for Los Angeles office; PatientPop adds to leadership team; Snapchat seeks boost in advertisement revenue with Shoppable AR.

TheWaveVR Raises $6 Million for Los Angeles Office

TheWaveVR, an Austin and Los Angeles-based startup led by Adam Arrigo, announced a $6 million Series A injection, bringing its total funding to $10 million, Socaltech reports. The round was led by RRE Ventures, and also included LA’s Upfront Ventures, KPCB, Greycroft VR Gaming Tracker Fund, The VR Fund and others. The company also announced the opening of a Los Angeles office, where the company will host high-profile VR concerts and collaborate with artists.

PatientPop Adds to Leadership Team

Santa Monica-based PatientPop, a technology platform for healthcare providers, announced the addition of healthcare industry veterans Jeb Burrows and Caitlin Reiche to its team, according to Businesswire. Both executives come to PatientPop from athenahealth. Burrows will assume the role of vice president of business development and channels while Reiche will be the head of strategic product management.

Snapchat Seeks Boost in Advertisement Revenue with Shoppable AR

Snapchat launched Shoppable AR, a feature that allows advertisers to sell goods through sponsored lenses, Techcrunch reports. Shoppable AR makes it possible to add a button directly to a Lens, which users can tap on to visit a website within the Spapchat app where they can buy the product. Users can also download an advertised app or video directly in Snapchat.
