Newegg Receives Investment from Hangzhao Interactive
Computer e-commerce company Newegg of Industry has received an undisclosed investment from Hangzhao Liaison Interactive Information Technology Co. of China, according to a press release. The capital infusion will accelerate international expansion, broadening the company’s product offering and pushing into markets such as eSports, virtual reality, and augmented reality.
Ted Cruz Fights ICANN’s Transfer
Texas Senator Ted Cruz is fighting the U.S. Commerce Department’s plans to relinquish control of domain name registry the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, reports the New York Times. Mr. Cruz has warned that the openness of the internet is in jeopardy, with Russia, Iran and China positioned to use their influence on Icann to determine what content appears on the web, though a number of engineering experts have pointed out that his worst fears don’t jive with how the internet works.
Demand Media Acquires The Other Art Fair for $1.5M
Demand Media announced that it acquired online art seller The Other Art Fair for $1.5 million, according to a press release and a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Combined with Demand Media’s art selling website Saatchi Art, The Other Art Fair will internationally extend the company’s distribution and collection of artists.
Activision Blizzard to Offer $1.5B in Notes for Refinancing
Activision Blizzard announced that it would offer $1.5 billion in senior unsecured notes to refinance its debt, according to a press release. The interest rates and other key terms of the offering will be determined at the time of pricing.
