Motion-Capture Technology Frozen By Court

MOVA, a well-regarded motion capture technology, cannot be used by its exclusive licensee, Playa Vista-based visual-effects company Digital Domain, according to a recent preliminary injunction issued by a federal judge in San Francisco, reports the Hollywood Reporter. The case’s judge found that the several Chinese firms which owned MOVA at different times behaved fraudulently when transferring the technology among themselves.

Green Dot Gets Scrutiny from U.S. Senate

Green Dot of Pasadena and other pre-paid debit card providers were pressed by the Senate Banking Committee to explain what went wrong last month when shoppers using Walmart prepaid debit cards were unable to get access to their accounts, reports the New York Times. For several days in May, some users of the Walmart MoneyCard were not able to view their account balances or activate new cards.

Atom Tickets Launches Across Southern California

Movie-ticketing app Atom Tickets has launched in Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Diego County, Atlanta, and Nashville at AMC Theatre and Regal Cinema facilities, according to a press release. The app helps consumers check show times, coordinate with friends, order tickets, and pre-pay for concession items.

Hillary Clinton Fundraises at Sean Parker’s House

Presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton hosted a campaign fundraising at Napster co-founder and former Facebook President Sean Parker’s house in Holmby Hills, reports CBS Los Angeles. Tickets are $2,700 per person and portions of the donation will go to the Democratic National Committee and various state Democratic parties.

Mario Lopez Signs Deal with AwesomenessTV

Mario Lopez, co-host of TV show “Extra,” has signed a deal with multichannel network AwesomenessTV to produce content focused on family, food, fitness, and faith, reports Variety. As part of the deal, Lopez will launch his own YouTube channel in addition to appearing on Facebook and Verizon’s go90.
