Developer G.H. Palmer Associates, well-known for its sprawling, Mediterranean-inspired apartment complexes near the 110 Freeway, announced the second construction phase of its Da Vinci apartment complex.
The Los Angeles Downtown News reported Tuesday that the project, dubbed Ferrante, will include 500 apartments and 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space on a 9.6-acre site along the western edge of the 110 Freeway and across the street from the Edward Roybal Learning Center.
Plans are moving forward in spite of the continued fallout from a massive 2014 fire that demolished an earlier phase of the DaVinci apartment project on the east side of the 110. City Attorney Mike Feuer on Feb. 18 filed a lawsuit against G.H. Palmer Associates for $20 million in compensatory damages incurred to city property.
The new Ferrante complex would have parking for about 2,600 vehicles and 1,680 bicycles, according to documents filed with the City Planning department. It would have indoor and outdoor amenities including rooftop decks and pools.
No budget has been revealed for the project. Initial documents suggest a 2018 completion date.
The site of the Ferrante development currently holds a 10-story office building and a four-story parking structure that would have to be demolished.
