Feuer Orders Closure of Gang Motel

City Attorney Mike Feuer said Thursday that his office has secured a court order for a one-year closure of the Bronco Motel in South Los Angeles because, he claims, the owner repeatedly violated terms of a permanent injunction by failing to make necessary improvements to stop rampant gang and narcotics activity.

The motel, expected to be closed in the next 60 days, served as the hub for 55 Neighborhood Crip gang activity including rampant narcotics sales, multiple gun arrests, a gang-related homicide and another shooting.

Vaidehi Inc., the owner of the Bronco Motel, became subject to a permanent injunction in June requiring improvements including the installation of a secure mechanized gate at the main entrance to control the flow of gang members and drug buyers and sellers.

Judge John Doyle found that Vaidehi violated the terms of that injunction, failing to install a proper gate across the main entry way and failing to regulate parking on the property. Investigators also claimed that one of the motel’s video cameras was disabled in an alleged effort to hide the noncompliance on the gate.
