No Fly Zone Over Porter Ranch

As a result of the ongoing natural gas leak near Porter Ranch, the Federal Aviation Administration has banned aircraft flights over the immediate area until early March, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

The request for the ban was made by the state on behalf of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It prohibits planes from flying within a half-mile radius of the site and extends up to 2,000 feet above the area.

It will not impact commercial flights.
