Among stocks trading above $1, Commerce’s Nova Lifestyle Inc. was one of the week’s leading gainers. Shares rose 2 percent to close at $33.52. The company announced this week that it hired an investment bank to explore strategic options in capital markets, particularly in Hong Kong and mainland China.
Manhattan Beach footwear firm Skechers USA Inc. was also one of the week’s leading gainers. Shares rose 22 percent this week to close at $150.45 after the company announced second-quarter earnings that beat analysts’ expectations.
Agricultural biotech Ceres Inc. was among the week’s losing stocks. Shares fell 28 percent for the week, closing at $1.16 Friday. El Segundo’s Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. was also among this week’s losing stocks. Its shares fell 25 percent for the week, closing at $11.01 Friday.
