The S&P 500 rose 15 points to 2,109.
The Nasdaq rose 23 points to 5,112.
The LABJ Stock Index rose one point to 243.
Gainers and Losers
Wednesday’s biggest local gainer was Playa Vista’s Rubicon Project Inc. Shares of the ad tech company rose 19 percent on the day, closing at $18.38 a day after reporting second-quarter that beat analysts expectations – despite an $11.9 million loss.
Wednesday’s biggest loser was El Segundo’s Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. Shares of the retailer fell 29 percent on the day, closing at $10.51, a day after reporting second quarter earnings. The report was in line with Wall Street analysts had expected, but the company also issued an earnings estimate for the third quarter that was below expectations.
