Rachel Moore, the chief executive of New York’s American Ballet Theatre has been named president and chief executive of the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles. Moore has helmed the ballet company since 2012 and also served as its executive director dating back to 2004.
The Music Center encompasses four companies: the Los Angeles Opera, Center Theatre Group, the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Lisa Specht, who chairs The Music Center’s board of directors, said Moore was an obvious choice for the job.
“Rachel stood out not only for her years of experience in the performing arts and expertise in leading American Ballet Theatre but also for her energy, drive and creativity,” Specht said. “She is both a strategist and a creative force.”
Moore is scheduled to start her new role on October 5.
H&M Opens in Long Beach
Hundreds lined up for the opening Thursday of the new H&M store at the Pike Outlets in Long Beach.
Bringing the popular contemporary Swedish clothing retailer to the shoreline area is part of an effort by Pike owner DDR Corp. of Beachwood, Ohio, to revamp the downtown shopping center.
Both Forever 21 and Nike Inc. are scheduled to open stores at the Pike later this year, joining a Restoration Hardware outlet that opened in 2013, according to DDR spokesman Matt Shuler.
Former President of BP America Joins Teledyne Board
A former president of BP America Inc. has joined the board of directors of Teledyne Technologies Inc., the company announced Thursday.
Robert A. Malone will join the board of the Thousand Oaks aviation, marine and energy products manufacturer effective July 1. Malone is chief executive of First Sonora Bancshares Inc., in Sonora, Texas.
He served as chairman and president of BP America Inc. for three years until retiring in 2009 – the year before the massive BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
