Laurel & Wolf has raised $4.4 million in Series A funding to grow its team and expand its online interior design marketplace.
The West Hollywood startup launched six months ago to help renters and homeowners connect with interior designers online and receive consulting on how to furnish their space. Users pay a one-time fee to create a virtual room profile and receive designers’ pitches based on budget, style and function.
Laurel & Wolf has more than 600 interior designers on its platform. The funding will go toward scaling its team and releasing new features later this year.
“Pinterest and Houzz were often used for inspiration and e-commerce had made better looking products accessible to customers at a wide array of price-points, so it seemed that everything around interior design was moving into the future, except for design services,” founder and Chief Executive Leura Fine said in a statement.
The round was led by Charles River Ventures, with participation from Karlin Ventures, Upside Partnership and Draper & Associates. Laurel & Wolf has raised $5.5 million to date.
