Design Award: Pasadena’s Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has been honored with the Army Corp of Engineers’ highest award for its design of the Mission Training Complex at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Jacobs provided full-service architecture and engineering for the $28 million, 137,000-square-foot facility.

Retail Pickup: DMD Lodging Inc. has acquired a Pomona retail property for $2.88 million from MNG Real Estate Investments. The 2,514-square-foot retail building, at 2775 S. Reservoir St., was built in 2000 and is currently occupied by a Jack in the Box restaurant.

Industrial Acquisition: CT Realty Investors and American Realty Advisors have sold a Compton industrial building for $12.4 million to DCT Industrial Trust Inc. The 101,724-square-foot warehouse, at 3136 E. Victoria St., was built in 1970 and is fully leased by a single tenant, LMD Integrated Logistics Services Inc.

Filling Up: Soylent, a downtown L.A. company that produces an engineered meal substitute, has raised $20 million in Series A funding to expand operations and scale production. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz – General Partner Chris Dixon will join Soylent’s board – and included Lerer Ventures and Index Ventures, among others.

Stock Offering: Hudson Pacific Properties Inc., a West L.A. real estate company, has announced that the firm has commenced a follow-on public offering of 9.5 million shares of common stock. Hudson Pacific plans to use the proceeds to pay for a portion of its acquisition of Equity Office Properties’ San Francisco-area and Silicon Valley portfolio.

Talent Base: Venice digital media company Zealot Networks has acquired Premier Sports & Entertainment to boost its talent management offerings. The Encino agency will become part of Zealot’s music and entertainment vertical, providing experience in representation, event planning and marketing. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Taking Shape: Beverly Hills private equity firm Gores Group has acquired U.S. Farathane Corp., an Auburn Hills, Mich.-based maker of plastic automotive parts. Gores partnered with Farathane Chief Executive Andy Greenlee and other members of the company’s management in the deal. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Driving Sales: Galpin Motors’ Galpin Ford dealership has retained its title as the No. 1 Ford dealership by volume in the world, its 25th straight year with the accolade. The North Hills dealership sold 8,000 new Fords last year.
