Unemployment Program to Fight Fraud With Upgrade

California’s Employment Development Department, which has been manually checking for fraud due to breakdowns of its antiquated computer system – and denying or delaying benefits to tens of thousands of jobless workers in the process – is getting a high-tech upgrade from Pondera Solutions in Folsom, a company that partners with Google Inc. to detect fraud, the Los Angeles Times reports.
