In Wednesday trading, the Dow Jones industrial average closed up 181 points, or 1 percent, to 16,437.
The Nasdaq rose 71 points, or 2 percent, to 4,184.
The S&P 500 rose 20 points, or 1 percent, to 1,872.
The LABJ Stock Index rose more than 1 point to 190.
