Gores Group on Thursday said that it has acquired Zmags Corp., a digital publishing and ecommerce software company

The Westwood investment firm headed by billionaire financier Alec Gores invested in the Boston company though its two-year-old Small Capitalization Partners investment fund. Zmags, which also has offices in London and Copenhagen, Denmark, markets a self-service platform that allows people to create commerce experiences for customers on tablet, mobile, social and web channels.

“Digital experiences are rapidly evolving and the Gores Group is very excited to add a well-respected company at the forefront of that change,” Victor C. Otley, Gores managing director, said in a statement. “Zmags adds a unique platform for growth to our portfolio.”
