Ixia on Tuesday said it has agreed to purchase Net Optics Inc., a network monitoring software company, for $190 million in cash.
Ixia in Woodland Hills will incorporate Net Optics products with its existing line of networking programs to provide a more complete suite of network management solutions. The comprehensive package will help customers better protect their networks against increasing virtual threats, the companies said in a joint statement.
Based in Santa Clara, Net Optics has about 7,500 global customers, including 85 of the Fortune 100.
“The agreement to acquire Net Optics is a key step in the fulfillment of our strategic plan,” Errol Ginsberg, acting chief executive of Ixia, said in a statement. “The resulting expansion of our product portfolio will accelerate our efforts to offer a full range of network visibility solutions.”
The acquisition is subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals, and is expected to close before the end of the year.
Shares of Ixia closed up5 cents or less than 1 percent to $14.56 in trading on the Nasdaq.
