The world’s eighth-richest man is in talks with other investors to build an $8 billion Disney theme park in Bahrain, according to a Bahrain news report.
Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is talking to investors which include Kuwait Finance House, the Gulf’s second-largest Islamic bank by market value, and several Bahraini institutions, the al-Waqt newspaper said.
Alwaleed has a 10 percent stake in Euro Disney, which operates Disneyland Paris, and his Rotana Audio Visual Co. signed a deal in November to distribute Walt Disney products across the Middle East and North Africa.
Work on the park would begin in May and would take six years to complete, the report said. It is not clear whether Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. was directly involved in the negotiations.
