Santa Monica online dating firm eHarmony has appointed William Weyerhaeuser to its board.
Weyerhaeuser is a retired clinical psychologist who is currently a director at Spokane, Wash., manufacturer Clearwater Paper Co. He becomes the third member of eHarmony’s current board, joining eHarmony chairman and Chief Executive Neil Clark Warren and Gregory Penner.
“Bill brings years of experience in the field of clinical psychology as well as a great deal of business expertise,” Warren said in a statement. “This unique blend of attributes is highly compatible with the eHarmony vision and mission and makes him ideally suited to provide valuable insight and expertise to our company.”
Warren asked seven of eHarmony’s nine board members to resign when he returned to the company last year. He has told the Business Journal interview that the company “needed to be able to move faster.”
He also indicated that he’d like to add one or two younger people to the board to help the company address the changing online and social media landscape.
